Show Home: Enchanted by the Sea and Nature
Interior architect Eveli Pihel found inspiration in the peace and tranquillity of the Uus-Meremaa development, which became the starting point for designing these new homes.
Located in Merimetsa, just a 15-minute drive from the centre of Tallinn, the interiors of the Uus-Meremaa homes reflect the surrounding nature and the nearby sea. Eveli immediately felt a connection with the project, as quiet environments are where ideas come most naturally to her. The positive feeling created by the proximity of the sea and the scent of the forest has also been brought indoors, because a home should feel just as good on the inside.
The overall concept was to create harmony throughout the residential development. From the moment you enter the building, you are welcomed by a familiar and comforting atmosphere. The same colour palette and high-quality finishing materials continue throughout the interiors. Since the calm Japandi style naturally complements a seaside setting, it fits here perfectly.
A thoughtfully designed family home
The four-room show home impresses with its excellent layout, offering plenty of space both for spending time together and enjoying privacy. Upon entering the apartment, the spacious hallway leads to the bedrooms, bathrooms and sauna on the right, while the open-plan living room and kitchen are located on the left.
What particularly inspired Eveli upon entering the home was the three-metre-high concrete ceiling and the spacious living room that flows seamlessly onto the balcony. The herringbone parquet has a slightly rustic character, creating a perfect balance to the concrete ceilings and the urban surroundings. Another eye-catching detail is the striped furniture surfaces, which also help improve acoustics. As a thoughtful design element, the same colour tones have been used on the interior doors and kitchen furniture.
When choosing furniture, Eveli recommends not following trends blindly, even when working with an interior designer. Instead, focus on what feels meaningful and appealing to you personally. Her own favourite details can be found in the master bedroom – luxurious velvet curtains, a bed upholstered in soft textured fabric, and an exceptionally soft rug that invites you to sink your toes into it.
