Enchanted by the Sea and Nature

When arriving at the new residential development Uus-Meremaa, interior architect Eveli Pihel found herself in the middle of peace and quiet. That became her main source of inspiration for designing the new homes of Uus-Meremaa.
Located in Merimetsa, a 15-minute drive from the city centre, the interior design solutions of the Uus-Meremaa homes reflect the local nature and the sea. The project immediately resonated with Eveli because her ideas flow naturally in a peaceful environment. The positive emotions of being close to the sea and the scent of the forest have also inspired the interior, as a home should entail a similar sense of tranquillity.
The overall concept was to create harmony throughout the residential complex so that familiar and positive feelings would evoke when entering the front door. The same colour palette and high-quality finishing materials continue within the rooms. Since the calm Japandi style resonates well with the sea, it fits the homes perfectly.
Thoughtfully planned family home
The four-room show home has an excellent layout – this is a perfect place to spend quality time with your family as well as on your own. Upon entering the apartment, the spacious hallway leads to the right, where the bedrooms, bathrooms, and sauna are located, while the open kitchen and living room extend to the left.
What particularly caught Eveli’s attention when stepping into the room was the three-metre-high concrete ceiling and the spacious living room that seamlessly transitions into a balcony. The herringbone parquet flooring was chosen to add a slightly rustic touch to balance the concrete ceiling and the proximity to the city. Another eye-catching solution is the “striped” surfaces on the furniture, which enhance the acoustics. As a cool detail, the same colour tones were used for the interior doors and kitchen furniture.
When choosing furniture, Eveli advises not to solely rely on trends, even when using the services of an interior designer. It’s important to consider what is important to you personally. Eveli’s personal favourites are found in the master bedroom – lush velvet curtains, a bed decorated with a soft and wavy fabric, and an ultra-soft rug to sink your toes into.
