Erika 6a is quite an exciting and multi-layered challenge. The site has an interesting history, which we aim to revive and give new purpose to, creating a unique character for the area. The main concept became the fusion of old and new, as well as transforming the urban space from a former industrial zone into a modern green living environment.
The centerpiece of the property is undoubtedly the water tower, which will be given a recognizable silhouette through an extension. The upper floors of the tower adopt the typical shape of a water tower that widens towards the top, but the façade does not attempt to imitate the old – it honestly adds a contemporary form using modern materials. The water tower made it possible to design apartments with unique layouts and open views of the sea. The goal is to value what remains of the historical heritage and give it a new life.
Around the buildings, a cozy courtyard free of car traffic will be created. This allows the courtyard to be designed as a green, activity-rich park area, serving as a shared and more private space for the residents of the block.”
